Pro Tips

💡 Bring a Flashlight

Stromboli has minimal street lighting. A small flashlight or headlamp is essential for walking around the village at night—and doubles as your hiking headlamp.

💡 Cash is King

While some places accept cards, many small shops and restaurants are cash-only. There's an ATM on the island, but it can run out of cash in peak season.

💡 Quick-Dry Everything

Between swimming, sweating on hikes, and potential rain, quick-dry fabrics will be your best friend. Cotton takes forever to dry in humid conditions.

Common Packing Questions

Can I rent hiking boots on Stromboli?

Yes! The trekking shops (like Totem Trekking) rent boots, helmets, poles, and backpacks. However, having your own broken-in boots is always better to avoid blisters.

Is there a pharmacy on the island?

Yes, there is one pharmacy (Farmacia) on Via Vittorio Emanuele. It stocks essentials, but if you require prescription medication, bring enough for your entire stay as re-stocking specific drugs can take days.

Do I need a power adapter?

Italy uses Type F, L, or C plugs (230V). If you are coming from the US or UK, yes, you will need a standard European adapter.
