Taste of Fire
Aeolian cuisine is like the island itself: intense, simple, and born from the sea and the sun.

Dining in Stromboli is rarely an indoor affair. Whether it's a quick lunch by the beach or a dinner watching the eruptions, the food is seasoned with the salty air and the scent of wild fennel.
5 Things You Must Eat
Pizza Strombolana
Not the calzone (which is American), but a pizza topped with the island's holy trinity: capers, olives, and anchovies. The capers grow wild on the volcanic walls.
Pasta con i Totani
Found everywhere. Fresh squid (totani) caught locally, cooked in a rich tomato and garlic sauce, served over paccheri or spaghetti. It's the taste of the local sea.
Granita & Brioche
The mandatory Sicilian breakfast. Coffee, Almond, or Mulberry (Gelsi) granita served with a warm brioche bun due “tuppo”. Dip the bun, eat the ice. Repeat.
Pane Cunzato
Literally "seasoned bread". A massive open sandwich with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and infinite toppings. Great for beach lunches.
Malvasia delle Lipari
The "Nectar of the Gods". A sweet dessert wine produced on the Aeolian islands. Pair it with hard almond biscuits (sesamini) at the end of a meal.
Where to Eat
- Punta Lena: Elegant dining with a view, famous for seafood crudo.
- L'Osservatorio: Located on the slopes of the volcano (bring a jacket!). You eat pizza while watching the crater erupt in the distance. No electric lights, just candles and lava.
- Bar Ingrid: The social hub of the square. Perfect for aperitivo at sunset.
